Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales has taken the first pole position of 2019 with fellow Qatar winners Dovizioso and Marquez joining him on the front row.
Vinales will start the opening round of the 2019 MotoGP World Championship on pole position with 2018 winner Andrea Dovizioso and Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez joining the Yamaha on the front row.
Jack Miller heads the fourth row despite a late fall whilst rookie Fabio Quartararo will line up 5th on his debut with the Petronas Yamaha SRT team. Injured Cal Crutchlow rounds off row 2 after making it through Q1, with the third row headed by Factory Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci, Morbidelli and Q1 entry Takaaki Nakagami.
Alex Rins rounded out the top 10 joined by rookie teammate Joan Mir and Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro rounded out the top 12 in Q2.
Just missing out on a spot in Q2 were VR46 Academy ‘pupil’ Francesco Bagnaia will line up ahead of his mentor Valentino Rossi in 13th and 14th place with Repsol Honda rider Jorge Lorenzo rounded out the top 15.
KTM’s of Pol Espargaro and Miguel Oliveira head row 6 joined by Tito Rabat. Andrea Iannone heads row 7 on the Aprilia with Abraham and Zarco on his KTM debut in 20th and 21st.
Hafizh Syahrin and Aprilia test rider Bradley Smith round off the grid.
