MotoGP: Alex Rins puts Suzuki back on top after day 2

Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Alex Rins has ended day two on top of the timesheets under the floodlights whilst yesterdays fastest man Maverick Vinales led a Yamaha 2-3 with rookie Fabio Quartararo impressing in Qatar.

Alex Rins has topped the session for the first time in 2019 onboard the Team Suzuki Ecstar GSX-RR after the 2nd day of testing under the lights in Qatar.

Rins fired his time in later in the session whilst Maverick Vinales was able to remain inside the top 3 after the Monster Energy Yamaha rider finished just 0.057s behind his 2013 fellow Moto3 title contender. Petronas Yamaha SRT rookie Fabio Quartararo rounded out the top 3 after a seriously impressive second day at the Losail International Circuit, completing 54 laps onboard his 2019 YZF-M1.

Danilo Petrucci just missed out on a spot inside the top 3 whilst Marc Marquez completed the top 5 0.411s behind the Suzuki rider.

An impressive day for Aleix Espargaro saw Aprilia return to the top 6 for the first time since the morning warm-up for the final round of the season at Valencia whilst Nakagaami, 2018 Qatar race winner Dovizioso, Crutchlow and Pol Espargaro rounded out the top 10.

Joan Mir completed  48 laps onboard his MotoGP machine as he continues to get his head around the 1000cc machines, Joan rounded out the day in 11th, 0.687s behind his leading teammate. Jack Miller was just behind the Spaniard onboard his Alma Pramac Ducati with VR46 Academy riders Morbidelli and Bagnaia in 13th and 15th with Tito Rabat splitting them.

Andrea Iannone continues to work onboard his RS-GP and rounded out day 2 in 16th place with Frenchman Johann Zarco just 0.018s behind the 2016 Austria race winner.

A difficult day for returning Jorge Lorenzo left the spartan in 18th whilst Valentino Rossi ended the penultimate day in a very lowly 19th place, failing to improve on the 1:55.604 he set in day 1 that saw the Italian lie 5th on the timesheets.

Avintia rider Karel Abraham rounded out the top 20 whilst Miguel Oliveira, Bradley Smith and Hafizh Syahrin rounded out the field.
