MotoE – Meet the riders #3 – Hector Garzo

Hector Garzo is a 20 year old Spanish rider from Paterna who will ride for the Tech3 MotoE team for 2019.

Hector began his career riding in the incredibly successful Cuna De Campeones championship. This championship has helped to bring a large amount of Spanish riders into the world championship.

Garzo raced in the “minimotard” 65cc and 85cc classes regionally with good results, these championships formed part of the inter-school league organised by Kike Bañuls and Chicho Lorenzo.

Hector then moved up to bigger bikes riding in the Cuna De Campeones Mediterranean 250cc challenge aboard a Honda CBR250R in 2013, he was the sub champion that year.

In 2014 Hector was the CEV Pre-Moto3 Champion and also tried out for the Red Bull Rookies but was not successful.

In 2015 and 2016 Hector raced in the CEV Moto3 Championship without scoring points however in 2016 he was the production class sub champion within the CEV Moto3 class.

2017 was the year Hector really began to shine, in his first year of racing 600cc bikes he was the CEV Stock 600 champion on a Yamaha R6 for Team Wimu CNS.

Hector finished in P4 overall in the CEV Moto2 Championship standings on a Mistral 610, also racing for the Team Wimu CNS. He made his Moto2 world championship debut qualifying in P5 on the grid at Sachsenring as a replacement rider for the Tech 3 team.

In 2018 Hector stayed with the Team Wimu CNS and took P3 overall in the CEV Moto2 standings with 4 podiums and 1 race win.

Hector also raced in the World Championship for the Tech 3 team again for 3 races as a replacement rider with a best result of P20.

Hector is incredibly young and has many more years yet to come with his incredible talent. We wish him all the best in MotoE.
