WSBK: Laguna Seca won’t be hosting World Superbike championship in 2019

California based avenue confirmed that they won’t be hosting WSBK championship during 2019 season.

After being a regular host of production based championship since 2013, Monterey based track owners decided that they won’t host the championship at all in 2019, rather hosting “Monterey Motorcycle Festival” in mid July slot previously occupied by WSBK, with domestic MotoAmerica series, that was usually in support, now stepping up to be the leading act.

The move comes as a no surprise after weeks and weeks of delaying decision, while Laguna Seca also scured the right of being a host of IndyCar championship finale for 2019 season. While owners of the track expressed their wish to return to the championship in 2020, it is also rumoured that South African venue Kyalami, which last hosted the series in 2010, will make a welcome return, while German website Speedweek is indicating that Laguna Seca could be replaced by Kazahstani Sokol race track for 2019 season.
