British rider, who was left out without a seat after leaving Kawasaki, will join forces with Shaun Muir Racing onboard new BMW S1000RR next season.
After weeks of rumoursand guessing where Huddersfield based rider will continue his career, it was finally confirmed that he will join forces with German manufacturer BMW, after signing a deal with SMR, who themselves will dump Aprilia RSV4’s to use German power from 2019 season onwards with promised factory support from the manufacturer.
Sykes will be joined in the team by BMW protegee and 2018 Superstock 1000 champion Markus Reiterberger. Where does that leave the likes of Lorenzo Savadori and Eugene Laverty, who was long thought to be the leading candidate to get the seat, remains to be seen, but both are on longer list for second seat at Red Bull Honda team.
