The Gresini team have unveiled their livery and rider for the MotoE championship which will arrive in 2019.
The Trentino Gresini MotoE team will run CIV SBK runner up Matteo Ferrari who has made a name for himself this year in the CIV SBK championship on a Ducati after almost winning the championship but losing out to Michele Pirro at the last round.
The 21 year old also debuted in the European superstock championship which was a part of the WSBK classes until the class was closed. He won his only European Superstock race at Imola Race 1 as a wildcard for the event.
Matteo also raced in the World Championship Moto3 class completing 2 seasons on an FTR Honda and Mahindra in 2013 and 2014 respectively. He continued to race a Mahindra in the championship in 2015 but lost his ride midway through the season due to poor results.
After losing his ride Matteo made the jump from 250cc to 1000cc as he jumped on board a BMW S1000RR riding for the DMR Racing Team for two years before moving to the Barni Racing Team aboard a Ducati.
The next step for Matteo is to contest in the new MotoE championship and he is the first rider and livery to be unveiled.
There is much stigma surrounding the championship due to the controversy of not having combustion engines, however with the talented riders which have been selected we are sure to see some close racing.
