Leopard Racing have announced that Lorenzo Dalla Porta has re-signed for another year with the Italian unit.
The news was announced just as the 21-year-old Italian got out on track in Misano for qualifying as the team released a message via social media.
After entering the years as Moto3 World Champions due to Joan Mir’s 2017 season dominance, the Leopard Racing team have struggled this year and are currently third in the team championship, 58 points behind Redox PrustelGP.
Dalla Porta is currently sitting ninth in the Moto3 championship with his countryman and teammate Enea Bastianini in fifth. The Italian pair has secured five podiums between the two of them but only one was delivered by Dalla Porta himself, a third in the season opener in Qatar.
Dalla Porta’s season has been less than electrifying, with one podium, five top ten finishes and two DNFs but the Italian will be hoping next year will be more promising for him as he works towards his first Moto3 victory.
With Bastianini moving up to Moto2 next year, Dalla Porta will be pairing up with a new teammate for 2019 but an announcement has yet to be made.
We wish Lorenzo ‘Laurence From The Door’ Dalla Porta all the best for 2019.
The grid is rapidly filling up for 2019 but, with several available rides with a large question mark dangling over them, there could be some surprised.
Who will stay where they are? Who will make the swap? And who will be exiting the grid?
