Filip Salac will replace Marco Bezzecchi at Redox Prüstel GP to partner Jakub Kornfeil in 2019.
The team announced Salac’s signing early this afternoon via their Facebook page.
The 16-year-old will replace current championship leader Bezzecchi as he graduates to Moto2 next year. The Czech rider partners his fellow countryman Kornfeil as they hope to build on their current success.
Salac made a brief wildcard appearance at his home race in the Czech Republic where he scored a respectable 24 position with Cuna de Campeones Czech Talent team. He has since returned to the Red Bull Rookies Cup where he is fourth in the championship, 74 points behind the championship leader Can Öncü.
We will have our first proper showing of Redox Prüstel GP’s Czech pairing under the Qatar skies in early March 2019 as the provisional calendar was released earlier this week and, with the addition of Salac, the Brno GP will be even more popular with three Czech riders lining up across the Moto3 and MotoGP categories.
We wish Filip the best of luck with the remainder of his season in the Red Bull Rookie Cup and look forward to seeing him on the Moto3 grid permanently next year.
