Spaniard Jorge Navarro will leave his current team at the end of 2018 to join Speed Up after a 2-year relationship with the Gresini Team.
Jorge Navarro will leave Fausto Gresini’s Moto2 project at the end of 2018 after joining the Moto2 class in 2017.
Jorge made his full-time debut in Moto3 in 2014 when the replaced the Belgium Livio Loi on the Marc VDS Kalex. In 2015 Marc VDS joined forces with Estrella Galicia retaining Jorge Navarro and signing youngun Fabio Quartararo.
Navarro continued with the EG0,0 Marc VDS team up until he announced he was leaving Moto3 to join the Moto2 grid at the end of 2016.
Throughout his time in Moto3 Jorge bagged 2 wins along with 7 podiums and finished the championship in 3rd place.
Since joining Moto2 Navarro’s best finish is 3 6th place finishes in his debut season where he ended the year in 14th position.
So far in 2018 Navarro has 4 points finishes, his best being an 8th at America earlier in April.
Navarro will join the Speed Up Team, a team that has had past success with Britains Sam Lowes where the Lincolnshire rider picked up a sole win at America but scored 5 podiums and 3 pole positions with the Italian team.
So far this year Speed Up has stood on the top step for the first time since America 2015 when Fabio Quartararo piloted the number 20 to the top step in Catalunya before backing it up with another podium finish with an incredible ride at Assen.
