After a crash in Assen, Franco Morbidelli has pulled out of the remainder of the German round and will be replaced by test rider and former MotoGP podium finisher Stefan Bradl.
Franco Morbidelli has announced that he will sit out the remainder of the weekend after taking part in FP1. The Italian was declared fit after a medical test on Thursday but after this morning session, he decided it was too much too soon.
Franco Morbidelli, who made his MotoGP debut in Losail after taking the Moto2 crown in 2017, has had a good start to the MotoGP 2018 season with a best finish of a 9th at Jerez. Franco currently sits as the top rookie in the standings in 16th position just ahead of fellow rookie Syahrin.
Franco Morbidelli ended the first practice session in 22nd place 1.937s behind Andrea Iannone who topped the first session in Germany.
Stefan Bradl who was last seen in the MotoGP paddock in 2016, made his MotoGP debut in 2005 on a 125cc. The German went on to take the Moto2 crown in 2011 before stepping up to the premier class in 2012 with the LCR Honda.
Earlier this year Honda and Stefan announced that they will be wildcarding at the Czech and the Misano round of the MotoGP season.
We wish Stefan all the best in his MotoGP return and we hope Franco Morbidelli will be back fighting fit soon.
