Mika Kallio’s weekend has come to an early end after a big crash in the second free practice session at Sachsenring.
Mika Kallio has sadly pulled out of Round 9 after crashing in FP2.
The Finnish rider ran off the circuit at turn 9 and ran out of road having to jump off his 2019 spec RC16 and hit the air fence with his bike following him in.
Kallio was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent medical assistance and has since said that he has sustained significant knee ligaments damage and needs surgery as a result.
Mika Kallio is set to take part in five wildcards during the 2018 season, the first being Jerez where he finished in 10th position and Catalunya where he sadly crashed out.
That leaves the two full-time riders Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith to fly the flag for the Austrian team in Germany. The pair ended day 1 in 12th and 14th with Pol getting the better of Bradley Smith who is still looking for a seat in 2019.
We hope Mika Kallio will be fully fit for the Austrian round of the MotoGP Championship where he, Pol and Bradley will be hoping to bring the team some solid points home at their home race.
